GENE C. MOJEKWU, PhD, PE, SE, Principal. Dr.Mojekwu is President of Matrix
Engineering Corporation. He has over twenty-two years of combined practical, teaching
and research experience in the fields of structural engineering, advanced structural
mechanics and foundation engineering. He has extensive experience in the structural
design of buildings, environmental facilities and special structures, as well as the evaluation,
rehabilitation and restoration of existing structures.
In addition to his duties as president of Matrix Engineering Corporation, Dr.Mojekwu
is active in Structural Engineering education. Since 1992, he has served as an Adjunct Associate
Professor of Structural Engineering in the School of Architecture, University of Illinois at
Chicago. He has also served in a similar capacity at Texas Tech University, the University of Texas at
Arlington and Illinois Institute of Technology.
Dr.Mojekwu has been published, has several award-winning designs,
and is an associate member of committee 340 of the American Concrete Institute.
He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering
from Texas Tech University and a doctorate in Structural
Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is currently licensed as a Professional and
Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois, as well as 40 other states. He is a member
of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.
JAMES M. DALTON, Director of Business Development. Mr. Dalton has over 11 years of combined academic and
professional experience in areas of structural engineering, architecture, construction management and residential
development. He has previously worked as a project architect at nationally recognized award wining architectural
firms. His experience in the structural design of buildings encompasses both small, award winning residential
projects and large scale high rise structures.
Mr. Dalton is an advocate for collaborative design and the seamless integration of
architectural and structural ideologies. He has served has an educator in the areas
of structural design and building technology at numerous architectural programs in his
tenure. His past experiences include: Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for
Structural Engineering at the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at
Chicago; Adjunct Associate Professor of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis
and Adjunct Associate Professor of Architecture at Judson College. In addition, Mr. Dalton
has served as a visiting Critic at Yale University, Michigan University, Iowa State University,
Washington University, Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois at
Urbana Champaign. Currently Mr. Dalton is a technical consultant for the Illinois Fire Service
Institute specializing in Structural Collapse Operations.
Mr. Dalton's academic and professional work have been presented and published both nationally and internationally.
APHRODITE
ANGELAKOS, SE, AIA, Senior Structural Engineer. At Matrix, Aphrodite currently
reviews projects to be permitted by the City of Chicago in the newly formed
Department of Construction and Permits. In her more than twenty years
of experience, she has managed all phases of design and construction of
new buildings and remodeling and additions to existing structures. Aphrodite
earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and her Master of Science
in Architectural Engineering degrees from the University of Illinois at
Urbana/Champaign. She is currently licensed as both an Architect and as
a Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois, as well as in her native
country of Greece. In 1996, Aphrodite received the Structural Engineers
Association of Illinois' Certificate of Honor for her work on the Chicago
General Mail Facility-United States Postal Service, prior to working at
Matrix. She is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois
and the American Institute of Architects.

(JESS) JESWANI, SE, PE, Senior Structural Engineer. At Matrix, Jess is
responsible for general structural engineering and design duties and has
more than thirty years of experience in the field of Structural Engineering.
Jess was recently involved in the McCormick Place Expansion Project and
the Lower Wacker Drive Reconstruction Project prior to joining Matrix.
A native of India, Jess earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
degree from the University of Poona. He later earned his Master of Science
in Civil Engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Jess is currently licensed as a Professional and Structural Engineer in
the State of Illinois, and he is additionally licensed as a Professional
Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.
JACQUELINE
I. AMMAR, Engineer. Jacqueline has over ten years of experience in the field
of Structural Engineering. She specializes in Construction Administration.
Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Architecture with a major in Engineering
from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She also attained a Master
of Science in Structural Engineering from UIC Chicago. Projects which Jacqueline
has worked on are the UIC South Campus Mixed Use Development - HOK/Vasilko + Hauserman
and Associates, an eighteen story residential tower at 828 W. Grace - Sedgwick Property
Development Corp and is currently working a 29 story residential tower at
1464 S. Michigan Avenue - Sedgwick Property Development Corp. She also works
on many low rise residential and commercial projects.
Christina Hui, Engineer. Christina performs general structural design duties for Matrix. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
HOUSHANG JAZBANI, Engineer. Houshang performs general structural design duties for Matrix. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Structural Engineering
from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He has over three years of research experience in the field of
model-base simulation of inelastic behavior of concentrically braced frames and performance-based design of chevron based frames.
SUE
M. KHALIFAH, PE, Engineer. Susan has over seven years of experience in the field of structural engineering. Her experience has helped her gain extensive knowledge of total project coordination from conceptual ideas through to construction. She has acted as project engineer working on a diverse cross section of building types including commercial, industrial, residential (high and low rises), and governmental. She is also experienced in the evaluation, analysis, and restoration of existing structures. In addition to her duties with Matrix Engineering, for the past four years,
Sue also has volunteered as a team leader for the ACE program,
organizing and developing curriculum for students interested in architecture, engineering,
and construction. Sue earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from
Purdue University. She is currently a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
KA-LUNG
NG, Engineer. Ka-Lung performs general structural design duties for Matrix.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of
Science in Civil Engineering degrees from the University of Illinois at
Chicago.
ONA
OKOLI, Engineer. Ona performs general structural design duties for Matrix.
Ona earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree at the
University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. She earned her Master of
Science in Structural Engineering degree at Rice University in Texas.
Ona is a member of the Society of Women Engineers.
SUDHIR
K. SINGAMSETHI, SE, PE, Engineer. At Matrix, Sudhir performs general structural
design duties, coordinating the design and development for a variety of structures.
Prior to joining Matrix Engineering, he was involved in the Dan Ryan
Reconstruction and Chicago Harbor Lock Major Rehabilitation projects. He
earned his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute
of Technology (IIT), Delhi, and his Master in Structural Engineering degree
from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He is
currently licensed as a Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois, and as a
Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin. In addition to his duties at
Matrix Engineering, Sudhir has been an active member of the ASCE Illinois Section - Structural
Group and was the group's committee Chair in the recent past.

Thompson, Engineer. Jeff performs general structural design duties for Matrix.
Pamela Watts, Engineer.Pamela performs general structural design duties for Matrix.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Architectural & Facilities Engineering from
Tennessee State University in Nashville and a Master of Science in Civil
Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. Prior to joining
Matrix Engineering Corporation, Pamela was involved with the McCormick Place
West Expansion project as a field engineer with a steel fabricator.
PIYONG YU, Ph.D, P.E, Engineer. Piyong performs general structural design duties for Matrix.
He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla
and has more than 10 years of design and research experience in structural engineering.
Piyong is knowledgeable in structural analysis and application of fiber reinforced polymer
(FRP) in retrofit of structures. Piyong is currently licensed as a Professional Engineer
in the State of Ohio.
ERIC M. MALONE, Drafter. Eric has been a drafter with Matrix Engineering since 1998. He earned both an Associate Applied Science degree in Computer Aided Drafting and a Bachelor of Art Science degree in Graphic Design from Robert Morris College in Chicago.
NELLY PEREZ, Office Manager. Nelly has been with Matrix since 1999. She is responsible for directing and maintaining all administrative aspects of the office. She assists with billing, accounting, and shipping tasks, and provides support to the entire Matrix staff. Nelly earned her diploma from the Taylor Business Institute. She is also a certified Notary Public for the State of Illinois.
